Introduction
This page is under construction.
Web sites regarding geologic maps change every year or two. Some geologic maps can only be obtained in paper (hard copy) format. Some can be downloaded in PDF format, but require a high-quality, large-format color printer for best results. Some digital geologic map data is available, and more is becoming available every year, which requies a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) program on your computer to load it and view it.
The best-quality geologic maps are produced by the US Geological Survey (USGS) and the state geological surveys.
Most recent geologic maps of the Pacific Northwest are available on on the Internet, or else can be ordered online. For example, Pacific Northwest Urban Corridor Geologic Mapshttp://geomaps.wr.usgs.gov/pacnw/mapgeo.html lists geologic maps for sale at several scales, covering some of the more populated areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The link above is just one example. You can search online yourself, for example using the terms " geologic maps of the Pacific Northwest," without using the quotation marks. Or you can search using more specific terms if you are looking for a map of a specific area within the Pacific Northwest.
